Cobalt’s founder and CEO, David Loury, an aerospace engineer, French entrepreneur and designer, had the vision to improve the flying experience 10 years ago when he founded Cobalt. Cobalt’s first plane, the Co50 Valkyrie, debuted in San Francisco and is now available for U.S. pre-orders.

David Loury
FOUNDER AND CEO OF COBALT
An aerospace engineer, French entrepreneur and designer, David has a vision to disrupt air travel. David created the first design-driven private aircraft company, Cobalt, based in San Francisco, California.
10 years ago in Paris, David drafted the first sketches of his aircraft designs and registered Cobalt as a company in 2008. Cobalt raised its first round of seed funding during the same year.
After a decade of continued, successful development, Cobalt flies on a regular basis in California and has begun production of customer planes. The rare appearances of the Valkyrie has brought tremendous amounts of interest and pre-orders. The Valkyrie is stunningly sleek, and goes a big step further in safety and performance.
David has a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Tech in aircraft design as well as a physics and economics degree from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Nancy. He received his private pilot license in 2001, and started his career at Altran, a global leader in innovation and high‐tech engineering consulting, where he focused on aerospace consulting.
